Cowgirl Contributors
Our Trusty crew of Cowgirl Contributors…..
*Kathy, not only was she born and raised on a cattle ranch, but she managed to “raise” several of us on that same ranch. Many a young girl spent summers hanging out with her- doing 4-H, moving cows, driving, and singing in the pickup- learning about God and life. All until that husband of hers came along, snatched her up, and off they rode into the sunset. Her husband is Rob and you’ll probably hear a thing or two about this talented reigning cowhorse-man. Rob and Kathy have two of their own girls now; four year old, Aspen, and one year old, Sage. Kathy is the creative genius behind most of what many of us have accomplished in life- she’s been a speech writer, a seamstress, a coach, and spent 15+ years as a high school teacher. Although she’s now married and busy with children of her own, Kathy continues to be a wonderful source of godly wisdom in many lives.
*EMILY is mom to four, wife to Erik, and writer to you! Emily and I were classmates at Ecola Bible School a few years back. Since that time, she’s been passionate about growing her family with healthy, nourishing meals. She’s not one to take the quick route when it comes to cooking; Emily takes the time to pour love and time into what she cooks. Lucky for us, she also takes the time to write “Breakfast At Emily’s” here at Cowgirl Clippings, where she shares some of her down-to-earth nourishment with us each and every Thursday. Don’t think cooking is all this gal can do… she’s a talented musician with a gorgeous singing voice. Hopefully she’ll soon fulfill her ambitions of getting some of that music recorded so we can all enjoy it. She’s an actress, squeezing in time to be in her local drama troupe any chance she can, and she is a gifted writer with a heart for the Lord. I’m excited for you to get to know her here, as well as over at www.specialedswife.blogspot.com where she chronicles her day-to- day life.
*Laci comes from a family of horse people. Her dad was a saddle bronc rider and her mom, a goat tying champion. Laci can tie a goat faster than anyone I know. She and her horse, Polly, were quite a team in their glory days. Laci and I grew up in different towns, but attended Rodeo Bible Camp together as kids and spent four years of high school rodeo-ing together. Beyond horse and rodeo, she is crazy about basketball and married a very tall basketball player named Bryan. They are both school teachers now and although she’s half his size, I’m confident she could get two hind legs and a front in a half hitch faster than he could shoot a free throw. Are you following me?! Laci is as genuine, real, and competitive as they come. She’ll keep you on your toes and squatting in defensive stance if you’re not careful.
*Margaux is the cowgirl QUEEN of the bunch. Margaux was Miss Rodeo Idaho and a contender at the Miss Rodeo America competition a few years back (dates have been omitted to protect the innocent). She is a school teacher by trade, a mom (to two cute girls) by giving birth, a wife by marriage, and a friend by choice. Smart, witty, and beautiful to boot…this cowgirl will draw you in with her sense of humor, her sometimes blonde moments, and her genuine faith. People are drawn to Margaux’s infectious personality and charisma. No doubt you’ll like her, too. You’ll get to hear bits about her bull riding husband, Tyler, and their cute girls Cassidy & McKenzie. And I betcha you catch a glimpse of Harley- her tried and true Palamino.
*Robin grew up riding as a faithful 4-Her and rodeo contestant. While growing up, her parents ran the local farm service and feed store, which has been in the family for several generations. Robin is more than qualified to run it now, along with any and all heavy equipment involved! She manages all of that when she’s not busy with her growing family. Robin is married to an Oklahoma-raised wildland firefighting cowboy. Together, Robin and Joe have dreams of raising their family in some element of ranching. We all look forward to watching their dreams become reality. Their adorable three year old, Carly, will be a big sister to a little cowboy who is scheduled to arrive in May. Along with work and family, Robin has the gift of encouragement– she is an optimistic, engergetic, deep-down-care-about-you kind of friend. Her love for the Lord radiates to those around her and there’s no doubt it will radiate to you.
*Robyn was born, raised, and lives on a cattle ranch 20 miles outside of Jentura, Oregon. One of Robyn’s favorite places is cow camp- she likes fixing fence, irrigating summer ground, and taking care of the cows. Robyn is involved in all aspects of the ranch from feeding, branding, working, turning out, and weaning. When she gets access to the internet, Robyn shares her “Reflections” here at Cowgirl Clippings. I know you’ll get a kick out of her fond memories and fresh perspective as well as her ever-so-sweet personality.
