Jessie’s Art

Come On Over today and meet Jessie.  I’ve been really excited to tell you about this artist friend of mine.  I had to wait until post-Mother’s Day because Buck and I used her art as a Mother’s Day gift for our moms this year.  Now I want to show her work to you!

First, let me tell you about Jessie…. she and I were classmates at Ecola Bible School several years ago and reconnected via the world’s favorite social network, facebook.  I saw her art portfolio online and was so impressed that I commissioned her to do a picture for Mother’s Day.  She’ll do two pictures total, as you’ll see only one of our girls is in this first one.  If you can guess which holiday will bring about the second picture, just shhh!

I’m so delighted with this picture, I can’t even tell you.  I sent Jessie a stack of photos to choose from and we both decided to let her pick which one she wanted to do.  I decided I didn’t want to know which one she picked until it came in the mail.  The suspense was almost more than I could handle.  You should know here and now that I don’t do well with surprises.   I was so excited when it came and now I’m excited to show it to you… you ready?? Here goes….

What impressed me most is that Jessie has never met her and yet she managed to capture the essence of Lucy so well.  This picture just captures her in so many ways- her stance, her clothes (which will forever be remembered in our minds and now on paper) when we think of Lucy at this age.

You can check out more of Jessie’s work on her blog:

and she has a facebook portfolio you can look at, too:

Follow the links and go look through her work.  I’m so amazed by artists- I just love looking through her impressive works.  Commissioning is such a fun gift.  I highly recommend it for grandparents, spouses, or yourself!  And they will appreciate it, too!

  4. Chelsea, that was a very sweet write-up. Thank you. I loved doing this painting, and being pushed by the deadline and things I’d never done before (scenery is a stretch for me) was such a good experience. Can’t wait to begin on Katie Claire!
